He tried to escape through the stairs, but they were quickly blocked by rubble from the collapsing floors above. With nowhere else to go, he took refuge in the basement, hiding behind a stack of crates. He could hear the sounds of destruction outside, muffled by the thick concrete walls. Suddenly, there was a loud crash and the walls shook violently. The creature had broken through the barrier that separated them from the outside world, its massive form casting an ominous shadow over the basement.
