Wendy awoke in a cold sweat, her heart pounding wildly. It was just a dream, she told herself, trying to calm down. She glanced around her room, taking in the familiar sights and sounds. The posters on her wall, the clothes scattered across her floor, and the faint sound of her mother's voice from downstairs.
Slowly, the tension in her body began to dissipate as she tried to shake off the vivid images from her dream. She had been walking through a crowded city street when suddenly everything grew larger and larger, until she was the size of a small child. She remembered feeling lost, alone, and terrified as she looked up at the towering skyscrapers that loomed over her.
Shaking her head to clear it, Wendy sat up and swung her legs over the side of her bed. She took a deep breath, then stood up and walked over to her window. The night sky was still dark, so there was nothing to see but her reflection in the glass. She stared at herself for a moment, trying to understand why the dream had seemed so real.
As she turned away from the window, Wendy's eyes fell on her phone, which was charging on her desk. She picked it up and checked the time: it was almost midnight. Groaning softly, she knew she should try to go back to sleep, but her mind was still racing. She slid back under her comforter and closed her eyes, trying to block out all thoughts of giantesses and towering buildings.
But even as she drifted off to sleep again, Wendy couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be small enough to fit in the palm of someone's hand...
