Dessie's Origins
The sun was just starting to peek over the horizon as Dessie, a young woman of 19 years, awoke to the sound of her alarm clock. She groaned and rolled over, hitting snooze before finally forcing herself up and out of bed. She stumbled over to her closet, pulling out a pair of yoga pants and a loose-fitting t-shirt before making her way to the bathroom.
As she stood in front of the mirror, brushing her long auburn hair, she felt a sudden pang of anxiety. Today was the day she was supposed to meet with her college advisor about her application. She had worked incredibly hard over the past few years, balancing school, extracurriculars, and a part-time job, all in the hopes of getting into her dream school. But now that the day was finally here, she couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed.
Taking a deep breath, she finished getting ready and headed out the door. The morning air was crisp as she walked to her car, a light mist starting to fall. She felt a small smile tug at the corners of her lips, remembering how much she had always loved the feeling of the world waking up around her.
Finally arriving at the college, she took a few moments to compose herself before walking into the advisor's office. Inside, an older woman with kind eyes greeted her warmly and motioned for her to sit down. For the next hour, Dessie found herself explaining her goals and ambitions, answering questions about her grades and extracurriculars.
Finally, the advisor sat back in her chair and smiled. "Well, Dessie," she said, "I'm pleased to inform you that you've been accepted into our program. Congratulations." Tears of joy filled Dessie's eyes as she stood up and wrapped the woman in a hug. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice shaking with emotion.
Feeling lighter than she had in weeks, Dessie made her way back to her car. As she drove home, she couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment wash over her. She had done it. She was going to her dream school.
As she pulled into her driveway, however, another thought occurred to her. One that had been lingering in the back of her mind for quite some time. A thought that was both terrifying and exhilarating. The thought of growing...
For as long as she could remember, Dessie had always been small. At five feet tall, she was barely visible in a crowd and often felt overlooked. But lately, she had started to notice something else. She was growing. Not just a little here and there, but quickly, almost alarmingly so. And with each passing day, she felt more and more out of control.
But maybe, just maybe, this was the key to finally standing out, to being noticed. Dessie couldn't help but feel a thrill of possibility course through her veins as she climbed out of her car and made her way inside, ready for whatever came next.
