Jack swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean any harm," he stammered, trying desperately to ignore the throbbing pain in his legs from the long climb.
Veronica narrowed her eyes, considering him for a long moment. "I see," she replied finally, her voice devoid of emotion. "And what do you think I should do with you?"
