The Exterminator's Art: Part One
The Park Invasion
Taren strolled leisurely through the park, her long legs eating up the distance. She carried a small container, the object of her attention hidden from view. Her gaze swept over the lush greenery, taking in the playful sunlight filtering through the trees. Suddenly, she stopped and crouched down, her eyes narrowing. A tiny figure darted between the leaves, its movements quick and jerky. With a predatory smile, Taren reached into her pocket and retrieved a pair of latex-coated tweezers.
Her target scurried across the ground, oblivious to the danger lurking above it. The exterminator's fingers closed around its tiny form, plucking it easily from the leaf it clung to. She held it up for a moment, studying it with cold, detached eyes. It was just one of many infesting this park, and it was her job to get rid of them. With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the squirming mass into the container, joining the others who would soon meet their fate.
Crushing Underfoot
Taren continued her hunt, moving methodically through the park. She paused by a bench, one foot hovering over a crack in the concrete. A tiny figure scrambled across the ground, trying to escape her notice. But it was too late. She lowered her foot, grinding the insect beneath her heel. A faint crunch echoed through the silent park as she lifted her foot, leaving behind a smear of blood and gore.
The Bus Crush
Her next target was a bus stop, empty for now but teeming with life beneath the surface. Taren pulled out a small spray can, uncapping it with a practiced motion. With a swift sweep of her arm, she sprayed the area beneath the bench and waited. Within moments, the tiny figures began to emerge, their movements slowed by the toxic mist. She knelt down, reaching into the cloud with her tweezers. One by one, they fell prey to her deadly grasp.
But it was the final victim that would receive the most attention. A tiny bus, meticulously crafted to perfection. Taren approached it slowly, her nostrils flaring in anticipation. She raised her foot, balancing precariously on one leg. With a sudden thrust, she drove her sandal down onto the miniature vehicle. The bus shuddered under the impact, its occupants fleeing in all directions. But it was too late. The weight of Taren's foot crushed the bus, squashing it beneath her heel. She stood up, surveying her handiwork with satisfaction.
The park was quiet once again, but for the faint sound of Taren's footsteps. She continued her mission, moving methodically through the landscape. It was a job that required patience and precision, but one that she excelled at. And as she made her way towards her next target, she couldn't help but feel a twisted sense of satisfaction at the knowledge that she was making the world a little cleaner, one crushed insect at a time.
