The Curiosity Shop: Part 2 (2K upscaled) - Cali Logan & Keri Spectrum
As the door to the curiosity shop swung open, a tall man in a tailored suit stepped inside. His eyes scanned the room, taking in every detail. He moved with a confident stride, exuding an air of power and control. The woman behind the counter watched him warily from her perch. This wasn't the first time she had seen him, and she knew it wouldn't be the last.
Keri Spectrum, the owner of the shop, kept a close eye on her customer base. She was used to dealing with all sorts of people, but there was something about this man that made her uneasy. His eyes held a dangerous glint, like that of a hungry predator. She couldn't shake the feeling that he was up to something.
The man approached the counter, his gaze never leaving Keri's face. He leaned in close, his voice low and threatening. "Have you forgotten our little chat from yesterday?" he growled.
Keri's heart raced in her chest. She forced herself to remain calm, hoping that he wouldn't see through her facade. She knew she had to play it cool if she wanted to keep herself safe.
"I'm afraid I don't remember any such conversation," she said, her voice steady.
The man sneered, his face contorting into a mask of anger. "Don't be a fool, woman. You know exactly what I'm talking about." He pulled out a photograph from his pocket, displaying it on the countertop. It was a picture of Keri, bound and gagged in the backroom of her own shop.
Keri's heart sank. She had been so careful, but he had found her anyway. She knew she couldn't resist him if he wanted to hurt her.
"Where is the safe?" he demanded, his voice cold and menacing.
Keri shook her head, her mind racing. She had no idea what he was talking about. There was no safe in her shop. She tried to reason with him, but his anger was too great.
"I don't have a safe," she said, her voice shaking. "Please, just leave me alone."
The man grabbed her by the throat, his grip tightening until she could barely breathe. "Don't lie to me," he hissed. "If you don't tell me where the money is, things are going to get very unpleasant for you."
Keri felt herself being dragged to the backroom, her limbs weak with fear. He tied her up again, this time in a tight hogtie on the floor. He gagged her with a bandana, leaving her unable to speak.
As he left the room, Keri struggled against her bonds. She had to get free. But every time she thought she was making progress, she would slip back into frustration. Hours passed, and still she couldn't break free.
Outside the shop, a youthful woman named Cali Logan was running late for her second day of work. She had no idea what she was getting herself into when she accepted the job as Keri's assistant. All she knew was that she needed the money, and Keri had promised her a decent paycheck.
As she approached the shop, she could see that something was wrong. The door was slightly ajar, and there was an eerie silence within. She pushed the door open and stepped inside, calling out for Keri.
No one answered. She looked around, her heart racing in her chest. The shop was empty, and there was no sign of her boss. Suddenly, she heard a faint whisper coming from the backroom. It was Keri, calling out for help.
Cali rushed to the backroom, her feet pounding against the floor. She found Keri bound and gagged, her eyes wide with fear. "What happened?" she asked, tears welling up in her eyes.
Keri shook her head, her voice muffled by the gag. She tried to explain about the man in the suit, but Cali was confused. "What man? What are you talking about?"
Keri looked at her, desperation etched into her face. "He thinks there's a safe in here. He's looking for money. I don't know what he wants!"
Cali's mind raced. She didn't know anything about safes or money, but she knew she had to help Keri. She began to search the room, hoping to find something that might help them.
Meanwhile, the man in the suit was pacing the floor, his phone pressed to his ear. He was receiving instructions from someone on the other end of the line, and it didn't sound good. He knew he had to find the money quickly, before someone else got there.
Back at the shop, Cali was still searching when she found it. Hidden behind a false wall, there was a small safe. She managed to pry it open, revealing stacks of cash inside.
She turned to Keri, her eyes wide with disbelief. "I found it!" she exclaimed. "But what do we do now?"
Keri shook her head, her heart pounding in her chest. "We have to get out of here," she said. "He'll be back any minute."
Together, they struggled against their bonds, trying to free themselves before it was too late. The sound of footsteps echoed through the shop, growing louder with every step. They could hear the man's voice, demanding to know where they had hidden the money.
With a final burst of strength, Keri managed to wriggle free from her restraints. She helped Cali to her feet, and together they ran out of the shop, not looking back.
Behind them, the man in the suit stood in the doorway, his face red with anger. He knew they had found the money, and he wouldn't rest until he had it back. But for now, he had to content himself with the thrill of the chase. Because once he caught them, the real fun would begin.
