Waking up to a Sensory Overload
As I open my eyes, the dim light of dawn filters into the bathroom. My body is heavy with sleep, but the urge to pee is overwhelming. I stand up from the small cot I had passed out on, yawning as I make my way to the toilet.
The tiles are cold against my bare feet, and the air carries a musty scent that only seems to intensify as I get closer to the bowl. I slide open the door and sit down, my thighs almost touching the sides of the toilet. As I lean forward, my breath catches at the sudden rush of warm air that hits me.
It's not just the smell that's overpowering—the loud splashing and gurgling noises are deafening in this small space. It's like a symphony of bodily functions, each one adding to the cacophony of sounds. For a moment, I hesitate, unsure if I can bear it any longer.
But then, as if on cue, my bladder releases and the stream of pee hits the water with an almost audible sigh of relief. As I sit there, letting the warmth envelop me, I can't help but wonder: what other surprises does this new day hold?
