As she rounded a corner, she heard footsteps echoing behind her. She froze, her heart hammering in her chest. Suddenly, a burly henchman grabbed her from behind, pulling her against his muscular frame. Before she could react, he slapped a hand over her mouth, muffling her screams. He dragged her through the darkness until they reached a secluded corner of the warehouse.
"I know you've been snooping around," he growled into her ear. "And I don't appreciate it. Now, where's your research?"
Ella tried to struggle, but his grip was like iron. She shook her head vigorously, hoping he would understand that she couldn't give him what he wanted. She was determined to protect her sources.
The man's eyes blazed with anger. "You're not being very cooperative," he warned her, his hot breath causing her to shiver.
Before she could say anything more, he grabbed a handful of duct tape and pressed it over her mouth, sealing it shut. Then, he bound her wrists and ankles tightly together with multiple layers of tape. Ella squirmed and writhed, trying to escape, but the man was too strong for her.
