Chapter 1: The Growth Curse

In the world of Miranda, every 100 years, the Goddess of Growth chooses a new queen to bless with her powers of enormous growth. The goddess, known as Astora, bestows this blessing upon a young woman, granting her the ability to grow to massive sizes, sometimes even towering over the skies. The Curse The kingdom of Miranda was once a peaceful and prosperous land, ruled by a line of wise and just queens. However, in the year 992 A.G., the 99th queen passed away, leaving the kingdom without a ruler. This was when the curse of the Goddess of Growth struck the kingdom. Every 100 years, the Goddess would choose a new queen from the land to bestow her blessing upon. The curse was simple; the chosen queen would grow to enormous sizes, sometimes even towering over the skies. But with this growth came a terrible burden - the need to constantly consume vast quantities of food and drink to sustain her newfound size. And if the chosen queen were to fail in her duties, the Goddess would curse the entire kingdom, plunging it into darkness and despair. The Search As the year 1000 A.G. approached, the people of Miranda grew increasingly anxious. They knew that the time for the Goddess's choice was near, and they feared what would happen if the chosen one were not found. Rumors spread throughout the land of young women exhibiting strange growth spurts, some even towering over buildings. It was said that these women were the ones the Goddess had chosen. The Selection On the eve of the new century, the people of Miranda gathered in the courtyard of the royal palace. A procession was formed, with the 100 eligible women of the kingdom, each dressed in their finest gowns and wearing crowns of gold. They were led through the streets of the city, accompanied by the sounds of music and cheers from the crowd. The entire kingdom was united in the hope that the Goddess would finally bestow her blessing upon one of these women, and lift the curse that had plagued them for so long. The Choice As the procession arrived at the temple of Astora, the high priestess stepped forward. She bowed her head respectfully before the huge statue of the Goddess, and began to speak. "Oh mighty Astora, we humbly beseech thee, on this holiest of nights, to grant us your divine blessing. Bestow upon us a queen, who shall rule over us with wisdom and justice, and guide us through the darkest of times. May the chosen one be filled with your grace, and may her heart be pure and true." With those words, a brilliant light filled the temple, and the statue of the Goddess began to glow. Suddenly, a voice boomed through the chamber, echoing off the walls. "I have heard your prayers, and I have chosen. Come forth, my daughter, and receive your blessing." The New Queen The crowd gasped as a young woman stepped forward from among the throng of hopefuls. She was dressed in simple peasant clothes, with no crown or finery to speak of. But there was something about her that made her stand out from the rest. Her eyes shone with an otherworldly light, and she seemed to tower over the other women, even though she was standing still. As she approached the statue of the Goddess, a massive growth spurt hit her. Her body swelled, growing taller and wider with each passing moment. Soon, she was towering over the crowd, dwarfing even the tallest buildings in the kingdom. The people of Miranda watched in awe as their new queen grew before their eyes, her beauty and majesty overwhelming. And with that, the curse of the Goddess of Growth was lifted, and the kingdom of Miranda began a new chapter in its history, ruled by a queen who would grow to become a legendary figure in the annals of time.
