Wendy Wilks stood proudly outside her professor's office, clutching her latest assignment. She had put in countless hours of study and practice, determined to pass her college anatomy course. This was her third attempt at the notorious 'College Anatomy Three' exam, and she was confident in her answers.
With a deep breath, she knocked on the door and entered. Professor Christine La Duke looked up from her desk, a slight frown on her face. "Miss Wilks," she said, "I must admit, I'm surprised to see you again."
Wendy's heart sank. Had her professor already doubted her abilities? "Professor, I'm here to submit my test for review," she said, placing the paper on the desk.
The professor's eyes widened as she flipped through the pages. "May I ask," she said, brow furrowed, "how many answers you believe are correct?"
Wendy swallowed hard. "All of them, Professor," she replied, her voice shaking. "I'm sure I got them all right this time."
The professor leaned back in her chair, her expression unreadable. She opened Wendy's test and began going through it, one by one. Each time she reached a new answer, her expression grew more and more puzzled. Eventually, she looked up at Wendy, her eyes filled with disbelief.
"Miss Wilks," she said, her voice low and steady, "you have failed this exam. Again."
Wendy felt like the world had stopped spinning. She had failed again? But she had studied so hard! Tears began to well up in her eyes as she stared at her professor in disbelief.
"I don't understand," she whispered. "I thought I did well this time."
The professor sighed, pushing her chair back from the desk. "Miss Wilks," she said, her voice firm but kind, "it seems you still have much to learn. Perhaps you should consider finding a tutor outside of class."
Wendy nodded, her mind reeling. She had no idea what she was going to tell her parents or how she was going to face her classmates. All she knew was that she had to keep trying, no matter how hard it got.
